The Spirits of Pawling offers a wide selection of Pinot Grigio wines. A noble variety with roots in Alsace, France, Pinot Grigio wines are also known as Pinot Gris in the United States. The Pinot Grigio grape, a subtype of Pinot Noir, has a skin that is pinkish-grey, which is why it is called gris—which is French for gray. The grape produces a wine that is crisp, easy to drink, and has aromas and flavors of citrus, apples, pears, and stone fruits.
In recent years, Pinot Grigio has grown in popularity and continues to do so. The grape is California’s third-leading white variety in terms of acres planted, following Chardonnay and the blending grape French Colombard.
